Introduction
Mathcad is a computer software program that allows you to enter and manipulate mathematical equations, perform calculations, analyze data, and plot data.
Mathcad presents a blank page that equations can be typed into. They appear just as they would appear if hand written. These equations can be manipulated (rearranged, differentiated, integrated). The solution can be a numerical or symbollic answer. The result can be plotted as a function of one or more independent variables.
The Mathcad workspace is considerably different from most ‘spreadsheet style’ data analysis programs (like Excel). Equations, data tables, graphs, and descriptive text can all be combined in one Mathcad document.
Mathcad can also include and access data within excel files that are embedded into the worksheet. This enables the use of excel functionality where required.
Mathcad also handles units, and seamlessly operates between systems of units (eg Pa and psi).
