Introduction
The route-planning process includes the evaluation of different pipeline-design routes to determine a feasible route, and minimise subsequent design challenges at minimum expense.
Selecting a feasible route requires optimising the route length and controlling the number of spans and length of spans, horizontal and vertical curvature and lateral pipeline stability. If seabed preparation is required (such as rock installation and dredging), the optimisation of dredging volumes and where to install rock supports are evaluated to find the optimal seabed intervention.
